Presentation of the project "Materials of hospitality" by Leonid Batalov

November 26 and 27 at the Lepse Palace

This weekend our resident Leonid Batalov will lead a tour of his installation. This installation is the result of a field study-interaction with local residents and the result of a project dedicated to hospitality. The installation will be located in one of the palace towers. The towers are usually closed to visitors, but on these days one of them will receive guests and will become the artist's temporary home.

In the Hospitality Materials project, hospitality is viewed as a relationship between the nomads and the host. In the course of travel and good neighborly relations, people often ask for help, give and share both things that are dear to themselves and that have lost (for the giving side) meaning. During the work on the project, Leonid was the same traveler who turns to the townspeople for help. As a result of this interaction with the Vyksa residents, he creates his temporary housing and invites everyone to visit his “home”.
